Gaurs are normally pretty sedate animals, considering their massive size. We have seen large herds of Gaurs with their calves many a times in the Indian wilderness. On this safari in Kabini, we again spotted a herd of Gaurs and as we got close, the big male that usually hovers close to every herd, crossed the road right in front of us.

Not only dd he cross the road, he turned around and started giving the incredible rutting call. As we moved on, we spotted a flock of Green Imperial Pigeons at a waterhole and a little patience at our end was rewarded with one of the Pigeons pausing to give a lovely composition.

We then spotted a herd of Gaurs resting close to the road and once again we waited and our patience was rewarded with a calf playing with its mother, making a lovely sighting for the day.
