The Golden Jackal is a widespread resident of the Indian forests, except for the forests in South India, where their sightings are far and few.

The Golden Jackal is one of the largest species of Jackal found on the planet and are well adapted. During our recent visit to the Pench national park located on the Maharastra-Madhya Pradesh border, we saw many of them and were very fortunate to have got close to a few, which helped us get some interesting compositions. We want to add here that the Pench national park was made famous by BBC wildlife series Tiger : Spy in the Jungle narrated by Sir David Attenborough.

Here’s a collection of images on the Golden Jackal from that trip. Like always all images were taken with the D300, 300mm f2.8 lens mounted with the 2x TC.
