We stayed a couple of nights at the gorgeous luxury tents of Raas in Chhatrasagar. Their location is spectacular – on the banks of the lake and you can see many species of birds right from the property. We took an evening drive into the grasslands and look at what we came up within a couple of hours. We spotted a Tawny Eagle foraging on the ground, making for an almost eye-level composition. The Hoopoe was taking a break from foraging and was perched beautifully within the range of my Nikon 600mm.

Nilgai are omnipresent in Chhatrasagar and we spotted this handsome male on the drive. The Common Stonechat was an easy catch as it sat on a fence barricading agricultural land adjoining the grasslands.

We photographed this Common Coot foraging in a small waterbody. The evening tea by the lake was another highlight of the drive. Having tea watching the gorgeous Sunset is an amazing sight, not to be missed at Raas.
