The Ashy Prinia is a widespread resident found all over India from urban gardens to open grasslands. We have observed this species in many places from in and around Bangalore to the pristine beaches of Goa.

In all these sightings, the one thing that has always amazed us is the perpetual chirping and singing of this bird. For such a small bird, it surely does have a lot of energy! It picks out a high perch and then goes on and on with its singing, oblivious to its surroundings. This has provided us with some wonderful photography opportunities. And here’s a series of images from our many sightings of this species.
