The Ashy-crowned Sparrow-lark is a bird of the open dry habitat. It has a perfectly camouflaged plumage, which makes it quite difficult to spot it in its habitat. The dry lake bed of Hesserghatta on the outskirts of Bangalore is an ideal destination to photograph this species.
The male species is known for their brilliant black-brown plumage, while the female is slightly paler than the male. However, the female Sparrow Lark with their brown plumage are better camouflaged than the male. Taking advantage of their camouflaged plumage, the species nests on the ground in open habitat.
We took advantage of the fact that the bird allows you to get reasonably close to it giving us these almost near life size compositions.
