The Crested Serpent Eagle along with the Changeable Hawk Eagle is one of the most common raptors found in the Indian wilderness. As the name suggests, they are specialists in hunting snakes, lizards and other reptiles, which form majority of their diet.
The Crested Serpent Eagle is a medium to large sized raptor with a brown plumage. The juvenile of the species have more whitish plumage as seen in this earlier post. These are solitary birds and come together only during the mating season. We must admit this bird has a captivating stare as seen in this earlier post.
