The Shikra is a small raptor, which is a widespread resident in both the open countryside and the forests of India. Adult Shikra closely resemble the Besra, however they have a distinctly paler plumage.

This bird of prey is comfortable living not only in the forests, but also in urban areas. And that’s why we have had the opportunity to photograph it both in and around Bangalore and in the Indian Wilderness.

While most of the images have been taken with the D300, 300mm f2.8 setup, a couple of the images are taken with the D80, Sigma 100-300 f4.
