Chikmagalur turned out to be an amazing birding destination, as you would have seen from our previous post. But the cherry on the cake was watching and photographing a flock of Plum-headed Parakeets skilfully foraging or should I say harvesting paddy. It was incredible to see how these winged wonders would flyby and choose a bunch of ripe rice grains to harvest. They would then perch on the very stem that they cut out and then fly away to a nearby high perch to feast on their fresh food. The whole experience made for an amazing photo op that we enjoyed. Here are a series of pictures to showcase that experience – truly marvellous.
