Starting this week, we would like you to walk with us into the world of winged wonders. Salim Ali bird sanctuary, in Thattekad, Kerala, is one of the best birding locations in the Indian Peninsula with over 250 species of birds. The Sanctuary is the best place to spot the rare Sri Lanka Frogmouth also known as Ceylon Frogmouth. This nocturnal bird is a master of camouflage and spends the daytime in dense undergrowth making it literally impossible to spot. Thanks to our expert birding guide Eldose we were lucky to spot 3 different pairs of frogmouth during a 3 hour walk in the sanctuary.

The Indian Pitta is a brightly colored bird and it visits Thattekad during winters and spends a few months.

This collared Scops-Owl gave me time just enough for 2 images, I was lucky to come off with this shot.
