The Indian Giant Squirrel commonly known as the Malabar Giant Squirrel is a large bodied tree squirrel endemic to the forests of Peninsular India. The beautiful plumage colors and the characteristic long tail, about 2 ft in length, make it one of the popular species of Squirrels. It is however unfortunate that they are an endangered species classified in the “Near Threatened” category of IUCN Red list. Here are some images of what we consider the most beautiful of all Squirrels found in India.
