During one of our drives into the Bandipur National Park, we spotted a Tiger that was sleeping in the bushes. It did sit up for a minute and look at us before going back to sleep again. We waited patiently for him to come out of the bushes to drink water at the waterhole. Many of the other tourists came by, waited for a few minutes and left. We waited for over an hour and half, but it was all in vain. The Tiger did not come out into the open. However a sub-adult Tusker – Asiatic Elephant did give us a refreshing break. It walked pretty close to where the Tiger was sleeping and started to drink water.

Something startled the Elephant and it stopped drinking water and headed in the direction of the sleeping Tiger. We held our breath to see if the Tiger would wake up. But the Elephant only turned his direction and came back to the waterhole again. I guess it was a more convenient spot as it continued to quench its thirst while we clicked away to glory.

Unfortunately for us, the Tiger slept through the entire time the Elephant was at the waterhole. And it was time for us to leave and head back to the resort.
