When you mention Kabini Backwaters in Nagarhole National Park, the first thing that comes to mind are the amazing sightings of Tigers, Leopards, Wild Dogs & Asiatic Elephants. But Kabini is also a fantastic place for birding, and it surely is one of the best places to photograph the White-bellied Woodpecker. The feature picture, above, is probably our best sighting of this large Woodpecker. You also find the Green Imperial Pigeon all around the park, especially near the water bodies.
The amazing sighting of the pair of White-bellied Woodpeckers was the highlight of this safari. The nice picture of the Shikra was a bonus after that. In summary, what a fantastic day of birding in Kabini.
